INTEGRATED WATER STORAGE / SANITARY TOILET
Efforts are underway to find a solution that deals with both these issues through an integrated approach consisting of a gravity fed water storage tank to supply kitchen, drinking (needs further filtering), bathing and cleaning water, and also supplies water to a biodigestive toilet system (either inground or above ground). This eco-toilet system can also incorporate planet-friendly design by incorporating discarded plastic bottles and other inorganic waste as building material for the toilet enclosure similar to the bottle school designed by Hug it Forward.
Advantages:
- • Greatly reduces the likelihood of the introduction of contaminants to clean water.
- • Allows storage of additional water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and irrigation.
- • Substantially improves family health and comfort.
- • Reduces likelihood of nearby water sources being contaminated by sewage.
- • Allows for partial implementation, while still providing functionality
- • Access encourages children to drink water to reduce high rates of childhood diabetes and obesity.
Disadvantages:
- Overall cost a concern
