Our Mission in Guatemala

Adelante Juntos, Jalapa is an ad hoc, charitable organization created to aid and assist under-served and impoverished Guatemalan communities meet their basic needs and improve the living conditions of their families, especially in the areas of Water, Sanitation and Health (WaSH) and childhood education. The name Adelante-Juntos means Forward-Together in Spanish to reflect the cooperative endeaver between our group and community residents to jointly improve the living conditions of the families within.

Our Objective in Guatemala

Our 5-year objective, through 2028, is to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve, and to enable those communities to sustain, self-manage, and continue enhancing their overall living conditions.

Our Vision in Guatemala:

• Support communities in articulating their needs, developing potential solutions, and assist them in making solutions a reality.
• Reduce rates of illness and death due to respiratory illnesses and burns from open cook fires in the home.
• Focus on efforts to ensure water is accessible and safe to drink.
• Develop sanitary latrine solution(s).
• Take steps to reduce malnutrition in children and support proper nutrition.
• Support children’s educational opportunities as a mechanism to break the cycle of poverty.
• Explore partnering possibilities for children, women, and men to have access to healthcare.
